Name: Kikyo
Canon: Inuyasha
Age: About 68, but she looks 18.
Timeline: After her second death.
Personality: It cannot be argued that Kikyo has encountered two hard lives. During her first life, she was all that stood between her village and constant demonic attacks. Even when she found a speck of happiness for herself - in the form of her love for Inuyasha (a half-demon) - she was punished by the lustful desires of a man turned half-demon that only wanted her for himself. Then, during her second life, after being resurrected by the Ogress Urasue, she learned the horrible truth behind her first death, yet not before she created a rift that could not be repaired between herself and the only man she had ever loved.
What else could she do but hunt down the one responsible for their pain? Only to be killed by his hands once more.
Regardless, somehow, thanks to Inuyasha, Kagome, Kaede, Miroku, Sango, Kohaku and even Shippo, she finds peace. The conflict she suffered in both lives has moved beyond her and, finally, she isn't a vengeful demoness or a lost soul anymore: she is simply Kikyo.
Kikyo is, at her core, a protectress and a healer. She willingly risks her life for those in need and asks for nothing in return. The burden of being the strongest Miko/Priestess weighs heavily on her, yet only those who know her best see the strain. It might be easy to forget that such a formidable figure is, still, in fact, a teenager. Yes, fifty years have passed for her, but the dead do not age. As such, she has been stuck at, perhaps, the most awkward point of her life for decades.
As a teenager, she still wishes to be beautiful and to find love. Her heart will always hold Inuyasha close - he is her first love - but she knows he belongs with the living; with her reincarnation, Kagome. Thus she, at last, has let him go and promises to watch over everyone from beyond.
However, with a new life set before her, her desire to be loved...cherished...found beautiful will return. Her heart is not as immune as she pretends and every friendship is cherished. In fact, her heart is her greatest "weakness". Without the desires of a woman, she would never have fallen for Inuyasha and let herself be vulnerable to Onigumo/Naraku/the Shikon Jewel. It may not seem fair, but that is a truth she has accepted. If she can help it, no one will be put in danger again - no matter what she wants.
She can stand alone. She can teach others to be strong. Her affection will come in the form of protecting others - much like her dear sister, Kaede. Or so she likes to believe. Life is not always so practical or neat. Life is filled with the same chaos and destruction that Naraku wielded for so long. It's only a matter of time before she encounters it again.
The one thing she knows without a doubt is: no one will suffer from loving her again. Not someone like Inuyasha or someone like Onigumo.
She can be crafty when she puts her mind to it - a useful skill for avoiding love and taking down enemies. She does not fear playing the villain or using her compassionate side to lead others to doing the right thing (or doing what she believes is the right thing). Her years may be few compared to others, but she is wise when it comes to being a Priestess. She never kills an enemy with hatred and anger in her heart; rather, she pities them and cleanses them with deft precision. Even Naraku and Onigumo are pitied despite how they cut her life so short.
But a Priestess must do what is best and rise above petty emotions. She has learned her lesson well after venting so much anger towards Inuyasha. Never again will she allow her heart - her soul - to be so vulnerable - so human. As she enters Ruby City, this will be her third chance at life - and with a body that is wholly human and not a sham. She will be the Priestess she should have been all those years ago and protect the city to the best of her abilities. No longer will she speak of the Shikon no Tama or a past that is more sorrow than joy.
This is her new beginning, free of the fetters that have held her down for more than fifty years.
Background: Wiki~
Abilities: "Master Archer: Coming from an era of endless wars, Kikyō has fully mastered the art of archery. She can easily and swiftly shoot enemies from long or short distances and has the uncanny ability to strike demons from much longer and greater distances. Kikyo can even accurately hit Inuyasha near the heart with one arrow despite being fatally injured which would normally impede such an activity even when Inuyasha was moving at high-speed through the air. Kikyo was able to teach her younger sister, Kaede, the skill of archery that led to her being a powerful priestess and archer herself.
Master Healer: Kikyō is an extremely skilled and experienced healer and is able to treat and save even those on the brink of death. She is able to see the beings from the Netherworld and can dispose of them with a single touch by purifying them.
Immense Spiritual Power: Kikyō is a highly respected priestess with tremendous skills and powers. Her sister Kaede noted that Kikyō is exceptionally powerful even for a priestess. She was one of the only people Naraku was scared of, going to extreme lengths to kill Kikyō. She is able to erect unusually strong and powerful spiritual shields and perform several mystic spells or enchantments that can be used for both offensive and defensive purposes. Likewise, Kikyō has the ability to break seals, shields, barriers, spells, and detect fragments of the Shikon Jewel wherever they may be. Kikyō can also combine Shikon jewel shards into one shard. Her spiritual powers manifest as a light lavender glow of light in color though it is light blue on a few occasions.
Enhanced Eyesight: Kikyō is able to see things that are or may seem invisible to the human eye.
Immense Endurance: Despite being fatally injured by Naraku disguised as Inuyasha, Kikyo was able to muster the strength in order to seal Inuyasha before ultimately dying in spite of having to walk a considerable distance with the wounds being open and bleeding profusely. When resurrected by Urasue, Kikyo returned in her injured state but was still able to put up a considerable fight against Inuyasha despite bleeding profusely from her open wounds."

Network/Actionspam Sample: Is death not meant to last for me? (Those solemn words are said by a female voice. The sound of a train departing the station can be heard in the background.) What is the name of this land? I wish to know where my spirit now resides.
...and who returned my body to me.
(The oddity of those last words is not lost on her. She doesn't wish to frighten anyone, but perhaps this is a land of the dead?)
I can feel my heart beating, my lungs filling with air...
(Her image appears on the Pocket Watch. Long raven dark hair contrasts nicely with alabaster skin. Though she is dressed like a Feudal Miko, there is something...more to her. She is no simple human.)
My name is Kikyo. I am a Priestess from Japan. (She inclines her head politely.) Are there demons that need to be exterminated? I have much experience doing so.
(A way to pass the time while she searches for answers.)
You needn't fear them any longer. I will ensure your village is safe.
Prose Log Sample: Rain fell from the sky, soaking her hair, the fabric of her kimono, her hakama and her skin. She enjoyed the sensation, however. There was no chill in the air and the droplets were refreshing. Her sham of a body before could not have felt them, but now, in the body she had possessed over fifty years ago, Kikyo felt every single one of them.
"I would stay if I didn't fear illness."
Another memory. Colds were possible for her now, though, generally, she was strong enough to ward them off. Yet what good would she be to anyone if she contracted a fever?
"None at all." she smiled and reluctantly moved under cover, choosing a seat to watch the storm pass by. The beauty of the thunder and lightning was not lost on her and she let herself feel at peace. Calm.
Here there was no Naraku or Shikon no Tama. She could be an ordinary woman if she so chose, but Kikyo was not the sort that could sit idle. Her powers were as strong as ever and she would use them to ensure no evil entered the village.
"City." the word was foreign to her, but it was perhaps more fitting than village. She had never seen a village so big.
It would be a hard job to protect all of the citizens, yet she knew she wasn't alone. Reaching down, she touched her bow - a new acquisition - and ran her fingers down the taut string. In time, this bow would be as strong as her last one. She need only continue her blessings and then it would be imbued with some of her power. A faithful friend in battle.
